Powerboat Courses

Powerboat Courses

These are full on sessions in which we aim to meet the RYA criteria in a fun and informal way.

Due to the high cost of running these courses we do have to charge, although members pay less than commercial rates.

RYA Powerboat Taster Session

For those who would like to try powerboating. During the session you will take control of a boat and be guided through a series of low and high speed manoeuvres.

RYA Powerboat Level 1

An introduction to Powerboating. This is a one day course at the end of which you will have experienced the preparations, boat handling, manoeuvres, theory and some background to Powerboating.

RYA Powerboat Level 2

National Powerboat Course. This is a two day and one evening course which will include an assessment. On successful completion of this course an ICC can be applied for from RYA. Course members should either have completed a Level 1 course or be experienced in handling both tiller and wheel steered boats.

RYA Powerboat Level 2 – Direct Assessment

For experienced powerboat handlers. It will involve a practical assessment and questions on the background knowledge required by powerboaters. Please speak to us so we can advise on the necessary skills and knowledge.

RYA Safety Boat

This is a two day course which will include an assessment for people who wish to provide safety cover for other water users. Course members will be expected to competently handle a variety of boats, lift, pull and enter the water. If you cannot lift and pull, this course and safety boat work is not for you.
